Actors Release Form

In order for our film to get published we would need to get permission from our actors/actresses so that we have the rights to use them in our short film. Life of Hermit will be published online so it is vital to get each of our actors/actresses to sign a actors release form to prevent any legal issues.

Here are the terms and conditions that each other actor will agree to when signing the actors release form:

So here are the release forms that are signed by each actor/actress:

Character - Hermit

The release form signed by David Twohey

Characters - 8 Masked Friends

The release form signed by Alex Thurston

The release form signed by Fran Perry

The release form signed by Izzy Stirk

The release form signed by Jack Brookes

The release form signed by Jake Bennett

The release form signed by Jess Bradley

The release form signed by Kerry Kalia

The release form signed by Sophie Wells

Character - Emergency Actress

The release form signed by Tina Vidmar. She will only be used in the film if another actress is absent.

Now that we have all of our actors release form signed, we can finally begin to film Life of Hermit

Preparing For The Shoot

Now that all of our research and planning complete, we must prepare for shooting Life of Hermit to ensure that we know exactly what we are doing and to prevent any issues from occurring.

Booking Equipment

As there are two other production companies besides Laconic Productions that are filming in December, we must book all the filming equipment so we all get a chance to shoot our films and without any complications, we have managed to book all the equipments for every shooting schedule.

Here are the bookings for each date:

This booking is for the cinema scene

This booking is for the fight and comfort scene

This booking is for the gym scene

This booking is for the party scene

This booking is for the reveal scene

This booking is for the stepping stones scene

This booking is for the waking up and bed scene

This is for any scene that we haven't been able to complete shooting with however we will most likely not film on this date.

Transport

In order to actually shoot our films, we need make sure that the actors/actresses, production crew and equipment are able to transport to each location without any issues or else this will delay our shooting schedule.

Here is a list of all the scenes we will be shooting and how the actors/actresses, production crew and equipment are able to transport to each scene:

Waking Up and Bed Scene

  • Actors - As we we only need two of the actors in this scene, transport will be easy as each actor is familiar of the location as they are friends with the owner.
  • Production Crew - As this location is one of the production member's house, it will be clear for transport to the house.
  • Equipment - As this is Robbie Gale's house, he would get the equipment the day before on Friday so can transport the equipment to his house.
Party Scene
  • Actors - All of the actors/actresses are good friends with the owner, Jess Bradley so transport for them won't be difficult as they have all been there before.
  • Production Crew - Just like the actors, all of us are good friends with Jess and have been to her house before so transport for would be easy.
  • Equipment - I will be responsible for bringing the equipment to Jess's house and back to the school.

Stepping Stones
  • Actors - The Stepping Stones is a public area that all actors have been before so transport won't be issue with this location.
  • Production Crew - As all of us went location hunting for our research, the production crew knows where the stepping stones is so transport won't be a problem for us.
  • Equipment - Robbie will be responsible for bring the equipment the location while I am responsible for bring the equipment back.

Cinema, Gym, Reveal, Fight and Comfort Scene
  • Actors - As all but one actor goes to this school, each of them will be able to get to the location without any trouble. As for the actor who doesn't go to this school, he will be able to carpool with another actor if he doesn't know where to find the school.
  • Production Crew - Each production crew member goes to this school therefore transport will also be accessible.
  • Equipment - The equipment is located at the school therefore transportation is not needed for these scenes.

Responsibility

When creating a film, there is a lot of responsibility that the production crew needs to consider:

  • Props
  • Costume
  • Giving the script to actors
  • Charging the cameras
  • Preparing the equipment
  • Printing the risk assessments and storyboard
As Robbie Gale was in charge of the prop research, it is only beneficial for him to make sure that all the props will be at each location and will be ready for shooting

Tilly was in charge of the costume research so she will take responsibly of making sure that each actor/actresses has their costume ready for shooting, She will do this 2 days prior to the schedule so we will be able to fix the issue if one occurs.

I will be giving the script to each actor/actress a few days before the first day of shooting so each of them will understand what they would have to do. I will also print extra scripts just in case one of the actors/actresses forgets to bring their own.

Whichever production member that is responsible for the transport of equipment (see transport section above) will also be responsible for charging the camera the day before shooting, For the scenes that we are shooting at school, I will make sure they are charging the day before filming.

On the days we shoot Life of Hermit, all of the production crew members will arrive at least 30 minutes prior shooting so we can prepare all the equipment for filming such as the Crane Kit and the Tracking Dolly.

I will also be responsible for printing the risk assessments and the storyboard so the production crew have an understanding of all the risks for each location and to help give us an idea of how our shots should look like during production.

Camera Shots Preparation

In Life of Hermit, we will be producing a wide variety of shots and by looking at our documentary task, it has shown that we have had practice on creating and perfecting these shots by using the Cannon 600D with Final Cut Pro X. However there is one shot that the production crew has never created and that is Alfred Hitchcock's famous camera technique, the vertigo shot.

Unfortunately, due to time related issues, we haven't had the time to practice this shot so in order to get a idea on how to create this shot, we looked at online tutorials on how to create and perfect this shot:

Although we weren't able to practice on this shot, we will now have a better idea of how to create and perfect the shot.

Now that we are prepared for shooting our film, all we need now is the actors release forms and then we are ready to shoot Life of Hermit.

Shooting Schedule

A shooting schedule provides information for the cast and what they need to prepare for next time they're shooting. Makes it easier for cast to prepare in terms of props, and tells them when they need to be in and what they will be doing that day at what time.

Here are the factors that we need to consider when producing the shooting schedule:

  • Are all the actors and crew members able to participate at those dates?
  • Do we have permission to shoot on those dates?
  • Will we be able to film all of our scenes within this time period?

Here is our official Shooting Schedule for Life of Hermit

Are all the actors and crew members able to participate at those dates?

We have spoken to each and every actor that is part of this film and they all stated that they are able to make it at those dates and at those locations. However as we have 9 actors/actresses in our film, there is a risk of one of the actors/actresses not being able to make it to a specific date so we decided to get a substitute actress if this scenario ever occurs. The substitute actress would be Tina Vidmar as she is my sister so I will be able to get direct contact with her if a situation happens.

Do we have permission to shoot on those dates?

We have asked permission for each location and the date we want to film it on and by looking at our location research, we have the permission to shoot at each location. Fortunately, most of the locations that we will be filming on will be either at school or at one of the crew member's house therefore getting permission wasn't difficult and can be easily changed if needed.

Will we be able to film all of our scenes within this time period?

We have spaced our schedule with a scene for each day so we will able to get a focus on detail for each shot. We believe that we are able to film all of our scenes on those dates however we have also booked equipment for the date 16/12/2014 for any emergency scenes will still have to shoot.

Now that we have our shooting schedule sorted, we are now able to prepare for the actual shooting for Life of Hermit.

Animatic

Now that the storyboard is complete, the next step is to make an animatic so we can have an idea of how our film will look like with non-diegetic and diegetic sounds as well as how long the short film could be.

Here are the criteria s that we had to consider in order to make a successful animatic:
  • It should be 5 minutes
  • The story must be presented well so the audience will understand it
  • It should include appropriate sounds for the short film

Here is the official animatic for Life of Hermit:

Evaluation

Is the animatic around 5 minutes long?

The animatic for Life of Hermit is 4 minutes 32 seconds long so although this is 28 seconds away from the ideal 5 minute short film, we believe that this is acceptable as from previous experience in our AS course, the actual short film tends to be longer then the animatic. This would mean that the animatic has a respectable time length.

Is the story well presented and is it understandable?

We believe that the story is well presented as it includes a wide variety shots such as a tracking shot and the vertigo shot. I also believe that the story is understandable due to the narration of the main character, Hermit.

However as we created the animatic, our opinion can be seen as biased towards the animatic so in order to make sure our animatic is presented well and understandable, we conducted primary research by using Survey Monkey. We asked 5 teenagers aged 17 - 19 year olds to watch the animatic and answer a questionnaire about it.

Here are the questions and their responses:

100% of the audience feedback likes the way the animatic is presented

Most of these comments praises the music, editing and the drawings.

100% of the audience feedback understands the story by watching the animatic.

Most of these comments praises the voice over as it makes the story more understandable.

This shows that the animatic is both well presented and understandable.

Are the sounds appropriate for a short film?

We believe that the music sets the tone for each scene. An example of this is that in the party scene, the music was uplifting as all the characters would be having a good time and in the next scene, the music changes to a more dark atmosphere to show the seriousness of the next scene. Furthermore, although we didn't include all the foley sounds, the sound effects that we used, created a more realistic tone in the animatic so this would help us visualise our short film more clearly. By looking at the survey we conducted, the voice over narration helped the audience understand the story more so we believe it appropriate to use this for our short film.

Now that our animatic is completed, we can now focus on the shooting schedule for Life of Hermit.

Storyboard

Storyboard are pictures drawn and put together to form some sort of story. It is a plan of a film that enables the production company to analyse whether or not the film will be good visually and can help plan which scenes in our shooting schedule. The storyboard is also annotated as it shows a description of each shot type, the camera movement and if it's either night/day or exterior/interior.

Here is the official Storyboard for Life Of Hermit:

Now that the storyboard is complete, we can now continue with producing our animatic.

Production Review

Now that out prop, location and costume research is complete, it is good to create an overall update with how things are going with Laconic Productions.

How are things going so far?

At first, the team found it difficult to think of a new idea in a space of a week but luckily we thought of a original story that each member loved and from this, we successfully got commissioned.

Unfortunately halfway through research and planning, one of our production members, Tina Vidmar was unable to continue with this years media course and as she was a key asset to the team, we struggled to cope without her. Eventually, we as a group were able to catch up with the research and is now continuing to work hard and is determined to make sure our film will be produced the best or our ability.

Are we ahead of schedule?

As explained above, we struggled to cope with catching up on our posts however once we've caught up, we were able to become on time with the schedule as we've already began with the storyboard. Because of this, we believe that we can complete our research and planning on time.

Prop Research

Every film whether it is a shot or a normal movie will include props, our short film also includes a number of props.

These are the main props that will feature in our Short film:

Trestle Masks
Trestle masks play an important role in our short film as they will be included in every scene bar two, the scene where Hermit wakes up and a scene toward the end of our short film.

The Trestle masks will be used to express the different emotions of characters that are included in our shot film.

Bottle
A bottle will be included in our short for the party scene when the characters at the party are spin the bottle. We decided to play this particular game as it is a classic game that is usually played at parties.

This is the sort of bottle that we will more than likely use for this scene as it is a bottle that did have alcohol in it. So this would be relevant for this scene because at parties people tend to drink alcoholic substances

Party decorations
Party decorations will be used for the party scene so the mise en scene is clear to the viewer that the characters are at a party in this particular scene.

So the images above are the things that will be included in our party scene to make it look like a real party. As the images above are the kind of things that are on display at most parties.

Flag
A flag will be needed for the catch the flag scene in our film which will take place in woods.

We will create a flag just by using a plain white sheet alongside a stick.

Basketball
A basketball will be needed for the gym scene when the characters in our film are playing a game basketball to show conflict.

We will access to a basketball by asking the P.E department at our school if we can use a basketball for this scene. If they can't borrow us one then I have one which we can use for this scene.

Popcorn

Popcorn will feature in the cinema scene of our short film so that the audience know the characters in this scene are at a cinema. We will also shoot this scene in the theatre with the projector screen down and the curtains drawn to make it look like and authentic cinema.

Existing media products that support our prop choice's

'Project X' is a movie which was made in 2012 which is about a teenager who throws a huge party that turns out of control.
As you can see red plastic cups are used in this party scene, this inspired us to use these particular cups.

'The Purge' is an American horror movie made in 2013 by James Demonaco, some of the characters in this film where trestle masks to hide their identity and for a frightening effect.

This film helped our group with the idea of using trestle masks to cover identities and express different emotions.

The film 'Spin The Bottle' made in 2004 directed by Ian Fitzgibbon, influenced our decision to use an alcoholic bottle when shooting our spin the bottle party scene as in this film they use a wine bottle.

As you can see in the middle of the image is a what looks like a wine bottle, so from this image we decided that we will also use a wine bottle when shooting this scene in our film.

The comedy film 'White Men Can't Jump' made in 1992 staring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson is a film solely about basketball. This is what made our group decide to use an ordinary basketball like the one shown in this image.

'The Sitter' a comedy made in 2011 starring Jonah Hill included a teenagers party scene.

As you can see, in the top left corner of the image there are three balloons and there is also one in the top right corner also. From seeing the balloons used in this film for this particular scene we decided that we would include balloons for our party scene also.

'American Pie The Reunion' made in 2012 features popcorn in the movie scene.

As you can see popcorn is used, therefore in our Movie scene the characters in this scene will have popcorn with them.

Here is a formal prop list that we will be using during production of Life of Hermit:

Costume Research

With location research complete, the next thing to look at is costume and this is important a this reflects everything about a character. It symbolizes the characters personality and adds context to who and what they are.

Characters featured in our film:

Main character - Hermit
For the main character we will have whatever fits the scene, such as pyjamas, appropriate swimming costume, party attire, gym attire etc. But mostly colours that will represent his emotions, such as: Bright colours; Happiness, Dark colours; anger.

10 masked people - Teenagers
For the 10 masked teens they will also have whatever fits the scene. The colours they wear will relate to their particular emotions. They will be stereotypical teenage clothing.

Masks:
Worried Emotion - Mask 1

Happy Emotion - Mask 2
Moody Emotion - Mask 3
Mysterious Emotion - Mask 4
Angry Emotion - Mask 5
Calm Emotion - Mask 6
Shocked Emotion - Mask 7
Concerned Mask - Mask 8

First Scene

This scene will be a 10-20 second clip of the main character, Hermit, getting ready to go out. He is a 17 year old male.

Hermit will be waking up and getting ready and we want to show his purity when he wakes up.
  • White Top - White represents innocence, and this is what we want to show of Hermit for when he first wakes up.
  • Checkered Pyjama Bottoms - Blue and White checkered, blue represents calm and is something we want to show Hermit as when he wakes up.

Donnie Darko (Donnie Darko) - A troubled teenager
Here we see him wearing a plain light blue t-shirt for bed. Showing his innocence at the start of the film.

Norman Bates (Bates Motel) - Also another troubled teen, who is not your stereotypical teenage boy.
Throughout the series we see him wearing numerous checkered shirts with different blues, greens and greys and whites.

Second Scene: 8 Masked Friends
Gym playing together:
We see the 9 friends plus Hermit, playing a game of basket ball together a friendlier type of confrontation in contrast to the last symbolising a healthier fight with emotions.

All the masks and hermit will all wear a white t-shirt, with black shorts and either a purple and yellow bib. We want to keep this as simple as possible and focus mainly on the competition.
Black and white are seen as opposite colours, so here we're showing that the masks may have different colour bibs on to other masks, they are still competing with themselves because they're wearing opposite colours.

Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging (Film) This is a scene in ATPS where two friends are playing basketball and they end in conflict. Friends are often seen as being the same person when they're very close. So this is like our film in a way the emotions are the same person but they're playing against each other and conflict happens.

Third Scene: 7 Masked Friends
Cinemas:
We will see 7 of his friends and Hermit at a cinema where this symbolises how much in common they have as they are now socialising together.

Mask 2: Happy Emotion

  • Yellow Blouse -  Within the meaning of colours, yellow is a great communicator and loves to talk. We want to show this trough this emotion because she's the 'happy' one so, during the film she will be whispering to the other people and distracting everyone from the film because she's so full of life and happy. Blouses make people look older and more sophisticated, so this conforms to the stereotype that teens try and act older than they actually are.
  • White Jeans - White is associated with purity and innocence, and the "happy" emotion is stereotypically the most innocent and pure, so her wearing white jeans is showing the innocent and happy side of Hermits emotions. Teenage 'happy' girls stereotypically would wear dresses or skirts, but we subverted this stereotype and have the teen in jeans showing the rebellion of teens.
  • White Lace Pumps - Lace is also associated with purity and innocence.

Betty Suarez  (Ugly Betty - TV Show)
Betty is a character in the TV that is always happy, and jolly and trying to cheer everyone up. She is someone who is trying to act more older and sophisticated than she already is, this can be shown trough the blouses she wears, but is subverted when she wears bright blouses. Our character is the happy character like Betty, who wears bright clothing and a blouse to appear older.

Sophie (Mama Mia - Film)
Sophie from Mama Mia is the innocent pure character, she often wears white or lace clothing. We want to show the happy emotion as being pure and innocent and she still being a child, so she will have lace shoes and yellow jeans.

Poppy Moore (Wild Child - Film)
Poppy Moore in Wild Child is the girl who brightens up a dull school, here she is seen wearing a bright coloured jumper which states her outgoing personality. The happy mask is the one whom brightens up everyone else's day like Poppy.

Mask 3: Moody Emotion

  • Black Skater Dress - Girls stereotypically wear pink nice dresses when they're going out somewhere, but this dress has no pattern or nothing really exciting about it which is showing the personality.
  • Black Converse -  The emotion 'moody' is seen as someone who doesn't really like to interact with others, and doesn't really have fun. So having plain boring shoes is showing this emotion. Also, girl teens who wear all black are stereotypically seen as "goths" or "emos" and in these are a social group who stereotypically aren't happy, not friendly, and keep themselves to themselves.
  • Black Representations - Black is a good colour to use with this emotion; The colour black is a colour which is known to be intimidating and unfriendly, it keeps things bottles up inside, its known as a very dark and mysterious colour, and keeps things bottled up inside. This is all the things we want to show about the character.

Violet Harmon -  (American Horror Story - TV Show) Violet Harmon in American Horror Story is a very moody, emo character, who doesn't often smile or get involved with things and keeps herself to herself. This is the personality for our "moody" mask to have, and Violet mostly wears black, and trainers.

Mask 4: Mysterious Emotion

  • Orange Jumper - This character is suppose to be Hermits "cool" side, one of the popular kids who are always in trouble or showing off to the girls. Who often will have skin showing, but in this they're watching a scary film, and he is covering all his skin showing he is trying to hide away and showing he too has fears and is scared of things.
  • Dark Blue Skinny Jeans - But he doesn't want to let this be too obvious, so he also wears skinny jeans which is showing more of his body.
  • White Converse - Trainers are a stereotypically a piece of 'boy' clothing, and this is showing that this character in no way wants to be feminine, also boys stereotypically get up to no good and are wild and carefree, and this is what we want to show this character as.

Nathan Young (Misfits - TV Series)
Misfits is about teens who are doing community service after committing some type of crime. They all have to wear orange jumpsuits, so orange is a colour associated with naughty/cheeky, which is what we want the mysterious emotion to show. Also the misfit in the middle, Nathan, he is a very cheeky and up to no good character, who loves himself and believes he is a hit with the ladies and  who has many personality traits like the mysterious character, and when he is not wearing his jumpsuit, he wears jeans and trainers.

Mask 5: Angry Emotion

  • Red Dress - This is the emotion that is more in power over the others, she seems to be a leader and in charge.
  • Leather Jacket - Leather jacket represents the rebellious side, and this is what we want to show this character to be, not caring and doing what they want.
  • Black Boots- Being the only person in heels is showing her authority above the others and how she is in charge and above everyone else.
  • Red Representation - The colour red is often associated with danger, and this is what we want to show this emotion to be, the dangerous side of Hermit.
  • Black Representation - Black is often associated with power. We want to show this power in this emotion over all emotion, so having the character in black also shows this. Black is also a colour that is associated with sophistication and this is what this emotion wants to be.

Sandy (Grease - Film)
Sandy is the good girl gone bad stereotype. She starts being a nice girl, and at the end of the film she is seen in all black with a leather jacket. The leather jacket is representing her rebellious side, and showing she does what she wants. The 'angry' mask will also have this personality trait, so she will also have the signature leather jacket.

Cher Horowitz (Clueless - Film)
Cher is seen as the leader in the film, she looks down on everyone else and thinks shes the best thing. She is shown here wearing a red dress in the street, this is showing her carefree side and she can do what she wants.

Chelsea (St Trinians - Film)
Chelsea is the "posh tottie", these are a group of girls that love themselves and think they're better than everyone else. They are suppose to wear school uniform, and schools like their students to wear flat shoes, but chelsea and her friends wear high heels showing she thinks shes higher than everyone else, and can do what she wants. This is also the personality trait we want the 'angry' emotion to have, so they will also wear heels to the cinema.

Mask 6: Calm Emotion

  • Blue T-shirt - The calm emotion is someone who doesn't care much, especially about their appearance, so he will just wear a plain blue t-shirt because its very simple just like his emotion
  • Blue Jeans - The jeans are showing that this teen isn't dressing up to try and impress anyone with smart clothing, they're just coming in baggy jeans and this subverts the idea that teenage boys put their best clothes on to impress girls.
  • Blue Shoes - These trainer pumps are not too fancy, or not too smart, they are casual, like this character, they're very laid back and calm. This also shows the stereotype that boys wear trainers.
  • Blue Representation -
  • Blue is a very calming colour, it is reserved and quite and doesn't like to make a fuss or draw attention to itself. This is how we want this character to be shown in this scene, they're just laying back and letting everyone else party.

Freddy (Skins - TV Show)
Freddy is a very laid back character at times. He is chilled out and lets everything pass him by. He is usually seen in casual clothing such as t-shirt, jeans and trainers.

Mask 8: Concerned Mask

  • Pink Cardigan - This emotion is known as the 'mother' of the emotions. She is the one that is always concerned about everyone else's well being, so this character will wear a cardigan because stereotypically this is a suitable outfit that mothers wear, but also teens wear too.
  • Pink Flat Shoes - Wearing sensible flat shoes also shoes her more mature, and sensible side.
  • Pink Hair Bow - The hair bow is showing her innocence. Bows are often worn by younger people, young girls or babies, so this is contrasting with the motherly figure but also saying she is still a child.
  • Pink Representation - The colour pink represents the sweetness and innocence. The colour can lead you to become immature, silly and girlish, this is contrasting with the clothing and showing the child side as well as the adult, which is the position teenagers are in.
  • Light Blue Representation - Blue is a safe and non-threatening colour, and is most universally liked colour of all. This is showing the personality of the emotion and how the other emotions feel about this one, they feel safe around because its the most mother of all the emotions.
Matilda (Matilda - Film)
Matilda is a sweet, innocent child from the film, but also has the brain of an mature adult. She wears a bow throughout the film, this is showing her innocence the child she is. The concerned emotion is still the innocent character, but still has the mind of an adult. So this bow is showing the child inside of her.

Kitty Forman (That 70s show - TV Show)
Kitty is the 'mum' character of this show, she is the stereotypical sweet caring mum, who is also a nurse. She is seen here wearing a pink cardigan and wears them throughout the show. The concerned emotion has the traits of a sweet stereotypical mum, that is always helping and there for everyone and she will also be wearing a pink cardigan.

Lilian (Bridesmaids - Film)
Lilian (5th to the right) is the good, sensible friend. This is the sort of character we want the concerned emotion to portray, the sensible friend that looks out for her other friends. She is seen here wearing a cardigan, showing the mother figure she is, and also wears flat shoes throughout the film, showing her sensible side.

Fourth Scene: 6 Masked Friends
Party Dancing:
We will see Hermit and his 8 friends plus Hermit at a party dancing together, this symbolises the idea of using with his emotions and having a good time.

Mask 1: Worried Emotion

  • Green Lace Dress- This emotion is someone who worries about everything, and in this scene they are worrying about fitting in. So to show this, they will wear a dress because this is what stereotypically teens wear at parties, and they want to fit in. Lace also represents innocence, it is worn by children at their christening and this is a time of innocence, and we want to show innocence with this character.
  • Small White Heeled Shoes- They are going to wear heeled shoes, because they want to seem like they're fitting in, and trying to be older, but they don't want to wear big heels because they worry that more of the superior friends might question why they're trying to be bigger and better than everyone else.
  • Green Representation - Green represents envy, and this is what this character is feeling to everyone else. They are jealous and worry they don't fit in, so they are trying so hard to be 'normal'. This is an on going problems with teens, they feel as if they don't fit in with society, and this will be shown trough this character. Green also represents growth which is what we also want to show, how the teens are growing up too quickly and wanting to become adults.
  • White Representation - White represents innocence, and this is what we want to show trough this character, that the pressures of teens wanting to fit and become older is changing teens and taking away this innocence.

Sharpay Evans (High School Musical 3- Film)
Sharpay is the girl who wants everything but never gets it, she envy's Gabriella throughout the films, and in the scene in High School Musical 3 she is seen in a green dress, this is when she is suppose to be going on stage to perform with troy but ends up going wrong. The green dress is representing her envy of Gabriella. We want to show that the worried emotion is envious of the other girls at the party and try to hard to fit in. Sharpay is also a very innocent character at heart, but she hides it with her bold personality, the lace on her dress is suggesting that she still has the innocence of a child inside her. She also struggles to fit in to a social group, it is normally only her and her brother who eventually leaves her for another social group, so she doesn't fit in.

Mask 2: Happy Emotion

  • Yellow Dress - Yellow is a colour that represents happiness and joy and this is what we want this character to represent. Also, happiness and joy is feelings that teenagers have at parties.
  • White Heels - White is showing the innocence of this character. Heels also represent older more sophisticated woman, and this is showing how stereotypically teens who are going to parties and dressing up are trying to be older and more grown up.

Frenchy (Grease - Film) -  Frenchy is your stereotypical very happy about everything, excitable, always smiling teen. This is what we want our 'happy' emotion to represent, this sort of personality. Also, for prom Frenchy wore a yellow dress to emphasise her happiness.

Mask 3: Moody Emotion

  • Black Skater Dress -  Having a dress is showing the party stereotype for a teenage girl, but this dress has no pattern or nothing really exciting about it which is showing the personality.
Black also represents sophistication, this is another thing the teens think they are when they go to social events and drink alcohol.

Wednesday Addams (The Addams Family - Film)
Wednesday is a very depressing character, throughout the film she has hardly any emotion for anything. She never smiles, and when she is happy about something she doesn't smile, and it would be about something depressing. She wears all black throughout the film, and is a very dark character. This is what we want to show of our 'moody' character.

Mask 4:  Mysterious Emotion

Orange V-neck T-shirt- The mysterious character will be the one that's up to no good, trying to get the all the attention, being the 'lad' at the party. He will wear a v-neck, this will show off more of his chest which is showing he wants to show off his body showing his self-confidence.

  • Skinny Black Jeans - The jeans will be tight, and this will again be showing his body more.
  • White Converse - Trainers are a stereotypically a piece of 'boy' clothing, and this is showing that this character in no way wants to be feminine, also boys stereotypically get up to no good and are wild and carefree, and this is what we want to show this character as.
  • Gold Watch - Having gold things can be known as 'showing off' and this is what we want this character to be, we want him to be.
  • Orange Representations - The meaning of orange is that it is a very "showing-off" colour, which is what we want this character to be doing. The colour orange relates to social communication, its a warm inviting colour and is both physically and mentally stimulating so it gets people talking and thinking. The colour orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit. Also the colour orange is the colour of Prisoners clothing in some states, and this can be seen as people who cause chaos and mischief, and this is what our character will be seen as.
  • Black Representations - Teenagers often have a psychological need to wear black during the stage of transformation from tee to adult. It signifies the ending of one part of their life and beginning to another, this is something that this character is showing because they're trying to act older than they actually are. Black is also often associated with sexiness, which this is character is trying to put across to the females.
  • White Representations - The white is still showing the innocence of this teen, and how yet he has not yet made adulthood because he's still young minded and is still too immature to become an adult.
Inmates (Orange is the new Black - TV Series)
In orange is the new black, the inmates are seen wearing orange jump suits. So orange is seen as a colour of mischief and people who have been up to no good and getting in trouble. This is what we want the characteristics of the 'mysterious' character to be.

Rick Ross - (No Games - Music Video)
Rick Ross is a show off, in this music video he wears a lot of gold chains, watches and other things. This is showing his 'show-off' personality and wants everyone to know the money he has etc. This is what we want our mysterious emotion to show, hes a very 'show-off' character, and this is shown trough his gold watch.

Joey Donner - (10 Things I hate about you - Film)
Joey is a character who loves himself very much, he always looking in the mirror or posing in some way, and is a hit with the girls. He often wears tight clothing that show off his body and muscles. In this scene he is shown wearing a tight vest top that shows his arms and his chest. Like in this scene the mysterious character will be wearing tight clothing to show off his body, and show he loves himself.
Mask 5: Angry Emotion

  • Red Top - Teens at parties like to act older than they actually are, so wearing a vest top will show more skin, showing they're older so don't have to cover up their body anymore.
  • Black Jeans - At parties stereotypically teen girls wear dresses or skirts, but this is subverting from this stereotype, but also conforms to the stereotype that the angry teen will do and wear what they want because they answer to no one.
  • Gold Necklace - Teens who stereotypically wear gold jewellery are more the 'thuggish' type, and this is what the stereotypical 'angry' character is.
  • Red Heels - The heels show a sense that they are in charge because they tower over everyone else, this is the stereotype of an 'angry' person, as they seem to control everyone.
  • Red Representations - Red represents anger, and being around too much red can cause someone to become irritated, agitated and ultimately angry.  It is a very emotionally intense colour, these are all the feelings we want this character to represent.
  • Black Representation - Intimidating and un-friendly, this is another feelings we want this character to be.
Sharpay Evans (High School Musical 2 - Film)
In High School Musical 2, Sharpay is the character who likes to think she is above everyone else, and is a very bold personality who is shown to be a little aggressive and manipulative in this movie. In this scene she is shown wearing a red top, with a gold necklace. This is what our 'angry' emotion will also be wearing.
Olive (Easy A - Film)
Olive is someone that doesn't want to go by the rules, she wants to do what she wants. She is seen wearing tight black jeans in this scene, and everyone is looking at her because she is not conforming to the usual teenage stereotype. The 'angry' emotion will be wearing jeans at a party when stereotypically teens wear dresses/skirts. This is showing her 'I do what I want' trait.

Cher Horowitz (Clueless - Film)
Cher likes to act older than she is, and thinks shes better than everyone else. Here she is shown wearing red heels. Showing a sense she is in charge and better than everyone else, it is also showing her grown up personality.

Mask 6: Calm Emotion

  • Blue Polo - The calm emotion is a sort of person who doesn't really care about much, they're very calm and don't try and impress anyone. So for the party scene, this teen will wear a plain blue polo because its not too smart, yet its not too casual.
  • Blue Jeans - The jeans are showing that this teen isn't dressing up to try and impress anyone with smart clothing, they're just coming in baggy jeans and this subverts the idea that teenage boys put their best clothes on to impress girls.
  • Blue Pumps - These trainer pumps are not too fancy, or not too smart, they are casual, like this character, they're very laid back and calm. This also shows the stereotype that boys wear trainers.
  • Blue Representation - Blue is a very calming colour, it is reserved and quite and doesn't like to make a fuss or draw attention to itself. This is how we want this character to be shown in this scene, they're just laying back and letting everyone else enjoy the party and not being the stereotypical 'lad' and being loud and attracting attention of all the other people.

Mask 8:  Concerned Emotion

  • White Long Sleeved Crop top - The concerned emotion is a sort of person who cares about everyone, and is there for everyone and wants everyone to be okay and puts everyone before themselves. The 'sweet' girl. So, i wanted a long sleeves top to show that they are not showing too much skin, and this shows they're protecting their innocence, like they're protecting their friends.
  • Pink Skirt - Skirts are stereotypically worn at parties with teens, but this is a longer skirt, whereas teens stereotypically where short skirts to act more grown up, this character subverts the idea of a 'carefree' girl teenager.
  • Silver Heart Necklace - The heart on the necklace is representing that this character has a strong heart, is is caring for everyone.
  • Pink Sandals - Sandals are the closest shoes you can get to being bare foot. Bare foot represents the innocence and purity because younger children are often bare foot. It also subverts the stereotype that teens wear high heels at parties.
  • Pink Representations - The colour pink represents compassion and love, it is also seen as a thoughtful and caring colour. This is what we want our character to be seen as. Pink shows tenderness and kindness with its empathy and sensitivity, its a non-threatening colour, it represents sweetness and innocence of the child inside. It can also remind you of early childhood memories, associated with the comfort of your mother figure, and this is what this character is doing, its concerned for the emotions around it and wants to look after them all.
  • White Representations - The colour white, again represents innocence. It is also a colour of protection and offers a sense of peace, comfort and hope, and helps other emotional upsets.
  • Silver Representations - Silver is seen as an emotional and sensitive colour.

Sandy (Grease - Film)

Mask 2: Happy Emotion

  • Bright Yellow Jumper - The colour yellow will be brighter in this scene than the others, this is showing that their is conflict and the happy emotion is trying to express their emotions more, so Hermit feels more happy than angry, by the colour becoming brighter. Its a jumper because the emotion feels scared and is covering up all their skin and feels cold rather than warm due to the situation they're in.
  • Black Jeans - This is showing the contrast between the bright jumper by having a really dark colour. The situation they're in is really dark, but the bright jumper is showing the their personality.

  • Representations of Black - Teenagers often have a physiological need to wear black during the stage of transition from the innocence of child hood to the sophistication of adulthood, this is shown in this scene because its showing the conflicts they will face in adult life and showing they are no longer the children that always get along and have fun.

He is a leader and believes he is better than everyone else, he wears dark colours, and a dark burgundy cape, and all this other followers wear. This is similar to what characteristics the angry emotion has.

Mask 6: Calm Emotion
