Film Pitch

Over the holidays, we were set on a task to pitch a short film idea to the class for this course. We did this as it would become easier to choose the right short film when production teams are made and to see if the areas of development with each film idea.

These are the questions that I am expected to answer in the film pitch:

  • What is your short film idea?
  • Am I able to present my idea so my peers, a potential audience or production crew, are able to visualize it clearly?
  • Is my film-making intentions realistic and practical?
  • Is my idea creative and interesting?
  • Does my idea meet the criteria of a short film?
Here is the presentation of my film pitch that I will present to the class:

Evaluation

What went well?
I believe that I was confident is my idea and that I presented the film pitch well as a lot of preparation went under the film pitch therefore I knew what I was saying. I also believe to clearly show the short film conventions that my idea includes so my potential production crew and audience would have more faith that film is able to meet the criteria of a short film.

What could have gone better?
Although I was able to present my film pitch well, the idea includes a very controversial message as it has the topic of suicide in the film. This would be a very sensitive subject to include in my film so if I want the film to become commissioned then I should change parts of the story that includes that specific subject so the audience won't be offended.

Now that my short film idea is pitched and evaluated, I am now able to focus on the training of new equipment that I will need to use in this course.
